Flours

  • Self raising – for baking cakes
  • Plain – for most other cooking including biscuits, sauces and soda bread
  • Granary – again, for making bread and also for healthy cakes
  • Cornflour – great for gravy and thickening sauces
  • Sauce flour – a good alternative to plain flour if you’re making a sauce and in a hurry. You can just throw all the ingredients in together with this rather than following the traditional ‘Roux’ method.
  • Flour tortilla wraps – great with thai chicken curry and a cooling mint dressing or with my ‘Mexican Lasagne’ coming up later in the year.
